For the past six months or so, Mac users have been speculating about whether Apple is going to slap those little “Intel Inside” stickers on the front of every new Intel-based Mac. Those who love the Mac for its aesthetics have been horrified by the prospect of the words “Intel Inside” appearing anywhere on their shiny new Macs.
Apparently, that’s no longer an issue.
While we’re still not sure if Apple’s going to allow Intel to co-brand the new Intel-based Macs, we do know that whatever branding Intel has on the machines won’t include the famous “Intel Inside” tagline. In an article in India’s Economic Times, K Yatish Rajawat reports that Intel will be dropping the tagline, along with its age-old logo (which was created in 1986).
Sources say that Intel will be unveiling its new logo and branding — which will likely be accompanied by a new ad campaign — during the first week of January. The new logo apparently looks similar, but with some small changes (including the removal of the word “Inside” from the logo type”).
Nobody (outside of Apple employees) knows if the new Macs will have Intel stickers on them or not… but at least now we know they won’t be “Intel Inside” stickers!
(Side note: have you seen PCs in retail stores lately? Why do they come with so many stickers plastered all over them? Can’t anyone see that it’s sort of, um, ugly? Let’s hope Apple continues to avoid the sticker frenzy.)
